That kind of language—from someone who has sent out 23 winners this season alone—signals a horse moving into a different category.

The pattern of Al Nayyir's success is revealing. He has won 4 of his 12 races at Meydan, his spiritual home, but it is at distances between one mile and three furlongs and one mile and four furlongs where he truly excels: two wins from just three races at those lengths, a 67% win rate that speaks to a horse finally finding the right stretch of ground. His recent form—two wins in his last six races—shows he remains competitive, even if results are not yet consistent. Ridden most often by Pat Dobbs, though that partnership has won just once in five outings, Al Nayyir continues to race at the highest level, and Clover is plotting bigger targets. A Group 3 race at Sandown is in the offing, with Champions Day on the radar as a possibility. For a horse that took time to come to hand over the winter, that represents genuine progress.
