Both of those wins have come at Class 2 level, which puts them among the better races in Britain. The first arrived on 13 July 2024, in the Newmarket (July) meeting, and the second came just this week on 11 July 2026. Two wins, two years apart, at the same top-level track — there is a pattern here worth paying attention to. Away from Newmarket the story is harder: in 12 Class 2 races across all venues, Aalto has only managed 1 win from 12 (around 8%), which tells you that the horse is not simply collecting easy prizes. It takes the right place, and Newmarket appears to be it.
Aalto is trained by Ian Williams, based at Portway in Worcestershire, and the yard is having a strong season — 96 winners already this campaign, which suggests a well-organised operation that knows how to place its horses well. Recent form has been a little mixed, with a 14th and several mid-field finishes sandwiched between the two latest results of a win and a second place, but Aalto raced just one day ago and is clearly in a rich vein right now. When a horse wins at a top track, finishes second next time out, and is still actively racing, the momentum speaks for itself. Newmarket has Aalto's number, and Aalto clearly enjoys the feeling.
