Both wins came in a short, sharp burst. The first arrived at Wolverhampton on 6 May 2025, and the second followed just nine days later at Salisbury on 15 May. Back-to-back wins in under a fortnight suggest a horse that was in the form of its life at that moment — fit, confident, and everything clicking at once. Since then, though, the wins have dried up. The last six results read 4, a non-finish, then 6, 9, 8, and 11 — a slide that tells you the purple patch has passed, at least for now.
Distance seems to matter. Yellow Card does its best work when given room to run, specifically between a mile and six furlongs and two miles. In four races at that range it has won once — a rate of 1 in 4, or 25%. That is meaningfully better than its overall record and suggests a horse that needs time to find its stride. At the top level it currently targets — Class 4, one step below the midpoint of British racing — it has gone six races without a win, which is a reminder that even finding the right trip is not always enough.
The yard behind it is Mickey Bowen, based in Haverfordwest in Pembrokeshire. Forty-seven winners sent out this season is a strong return for any training operation, and it tells you this is not a small, struggling stable — Bowen clearly knows how to get a horse ready to win. Yellow Card raced just yesterday, so it is very much in active campaign mode, and with two wins already banked this calendar year, there is reason to think the right race and the right conditions could bring another one before long.
