Trained by Sarah-Jayne Davies at her yard in Leominster, Herefordshire, Winter Life competes mostly in Class 5 races — the entry-level tier of British racing, where horses of modest ability tend to find their feet or, in some cases, keep searching. Davies has sent out five winners this season, so the yard clearly knows how to get a horse to the line first. Winter Life just hasn't been one of them yet.
The recent form makes for difficult reading: in the last six races, the best finishing position has been fifth, twice. A run of 5-6-5-8-4-1 would at least suggest progress, but those numbers are not moving in the right direction. That said, Winter Life raced just one day ago, which means the team is keeping the horse busy and clearly believes there is something worth pursuing. Sometimes it takes a horse time to find the right race, the right ground, or simply the right day. Winter Life is still looking for all three.
