What makes this profile unusual is that there is genuinely very little to spin. Some horses take time to find their feet; some discover a track or a distance that suits them and suddenly click. Westminster Moon hasn't found that yet. The closest thing to a bright spot is a sixth-place finish, which at least suggests the horse isn't hopelessly out of its depth every time it lines up — but sixth from a field is a long way from the money.

The horse is trained by A J Martin at Summerhill in County Meath, a yard that has sent out 15 winners already this season, so it's not a case of a struggling operation propping up a struggling horse. Martin clearly knows how to get a horse ready to win — Westminster Moon just hasn't been that horse yet. Crucially, the horse raced just one day ago, so whatever comes next will arrive quickly. Sometimes a quick turnaround suits a horse; sometimes it confirms that the yard are still searching for answers. With Westminster Moon, the search is very much ongoing.
