Westminster Moon

Trained by A.J. Martin out of Summerhill in County Meath, Westminster Moon is part of a yard that has been in good form this season, sending out 13 winners. That kind of productivity from a stable is a decent sign — horses tend to run well when a trainer has things clicking, and Martin clearly has his string in reasonable shape.

The recent run of form makes interesting reading: finishing 10th, 11th, 19th, 7th, 1st, and 13th in its last six races (reading oldest to most recent) shows a horse that blows hot and cold. That 19th is a difficult result to ignore — when a horse finishes that far back, something has usually gone wrong, whether that's the race not suiting or an off day. But the win sandwiched between modest efforts is a reminder that Westminster Moon clearly has ability when everything falls right. Racing just one day ago, this is a horse very much in the thick of things right now, and given the confidence a first win can give both horse and trainer, it will be worth keeping an eye on what comes next.
