The real story here is Windsor. Of his seven career wins, three have come at this one track — a win rate of 3 from 8 races there, which is nearly three times better than his overall record. He got his first win at Windsor on 11 April 2022 and clearly likes something about the track. He also shows a preference for ground conditions: on normal or slightly soft terrain, he has won five of his last 19 races (roughly one in every four), compared to his flatline average elsewhere. The problem is that Vape has hit a dry spell. His last win came at Chepstow on 19 August 2025, which means he has gone thirteen months without tasting victory. His recent form has been unkind — his last six races have yielded nothing but an eighth place and a couple of eleventh-place finishes, bookended by mid-field runs. He raced just yesterday, so the yard clearly still sees enough in him to keep him busy.

William Cox has been his regular jockey, though the partnership has been modest: two wins from 22 races together, a rate of about 9 percent. The yard itself — John and Rhys Flint's operation — has had a decent season with eight winners sent out, so Vape remains part of a functioning setup. At nine years old and typically competing at Class 5 level, where he has managed only 2 wins from 24 races, Vape appears to be a horse making his living in the middle ranks. He is honest enough, and Windsor remains his place to find form, but the recent blank suggests his best days may be behind him.
