The horse runs best over distances between seven furlongs and a mile, where it has won 1 from 14 races—a 7% win rate at its preferred trip—yet even this modest strength has not translated into a second winner. At Class 6, the lowest tier of competitive racing, it has failed to win from 19 attempts, which suggests Valadero is operating at the absolute limit of its abilities even in the gentlest company.

Callum Shepherd, the horse's most frequent rider with five mounts, has not managed to get it into the winner's circle either, posting a blank from those five races. Brian Toomey's Chalfont St Giles yard, which has had ten winners this season, appears to have found little in Valadero that justifies optimism. The recent form—fourth, fifth, second, first, third, eighth from its last six races—shows a horse drifting without pattern or momentum. For a five-year-old still chasing a second win, Valadero remains a hard sell, though it is still active and racing.
