The worry is the recent form. In the last six races, the best result is a second place, and there have been a couple of disappointing runs too—a seventh and two fourths in the past month. It has not won since that June victory at Carlisle, three months ago now, so there is a question about whether that early breakthrough was the real thing or just a flash of form. Still, the horse is trained by David O'Meara, who runs a big operation at Upper Helmsley in North Yorkshire and has already sent out 101 winners this season, so there is proper horsemanship behind it. Uncharted Territory is currently racing and will have chances to prove whether that Carlisle win was the start of something or a one-off. With a quarter of its races at the right distance ending in victory, there is reason to keep watching.
