The career started promisingly enough, with a first win at Wolverhampton on 22 December 2025, and the most significant result since came at Great Yarmouth in May 2026 — a victory that arrived just eight weeks ago and remains the most recent win on the record. The recent run of form reads 10th, 5th, 1st, 9th, 3rd, with one entry missing, which is a mixed picture. There is clearly ability here, but it does not always show up on the same day.

U S S Charleston competes mainly at Class 5, which is the everyday, bread-and-butter level of British racing. At that level, the win record is 1 from 8 races, or around 12% — slightly below what you might hope given the horse's overall consistency. That gap between finishing well and actually winning is something the team at Lemos De Souza's Newmarket yard will be watching closely. The trainer has sent out 19 winners already this season, so there is clearly a functioning operation behind the horse — it is not short of professional support.

At three years old and still active — racing as recently as yesterday — U S S Charleston is very much a work in progress. The profile of a horse that places often but wins less frequently than you might expect suggests it needs the right conditions to really assert itself. Whether that means stepping up in trip, finding a softer opening at a particular track, or simply continuing to develop physically as the season goes on, there is room for the story to improve from here.
