What makes Travel Agent genuinely interesting is its clear preference for Lingfield Park. The horse has won twice from just four races at that track, a win rate of 50 per cent that stands in sharp contrast to its overall record. When the ground sits at normal conditions—the kind of going you get on any ordinary racing day—Travel Agent thrives, winning three of eight races there, or 38 per cent. Put it on fast, dry ground at other courses, or on wet or muddy ground anywhere, and the chances dry up immediately. Trainer Adam Kirby, based in Newmarket, has found something in this horse that works within those narrow parameters.
The bigger problem is what happens at Class 5, the routine level where Travel Agent contests most races. Zero wins from eight attempts tells the story: when pitched against the very cheapest competition, it fails to win. This is unusual and suggests the horse either drops off sharply at that level or simply struggles with the type of race or opposition it encounters there. Against slightly better horses, in better conditions, on the right track, Travel Agent becomes a different proposition—but five months without a win is a long time, and it is hard to know if that Lingfield form still holds.
