His most recent win came at Musselburgh on 1 February 2026, nearly nine months ago now, and trainer Neil Mulholland has bigger plans brewing. Mulholland is a sharp operator — his Limpley Stoke yard in Wiltshire has sent out 60 winners this season — and he has been mapping out a campaign around the Grand National trials. The trainer has already won the bet365 Gold Cup with another horse, and Transmission has the right kind of form to target that race, along with the Scottish and Midlands Grand Nationals. The ground was quick when Transmission returned to action at Cheltenham recently (finishing fifth, then seventh in his last two runs), which is a concern because his trainer has flagged that faster conditions do not suit him as well. Softer, wetter ground plays to his strengths.

Joe Anderson, who has ridden him twice and won on him both times, knows the horse well. Conor O'Farrell, the jockey who partnered him to victory at Musselburgh, has become a fixture in the yard over the last 18 months and is clearly trusted with Mulholland's better horses. Transmission is active right now — he raced just over a week ago — and with the Grand National season ramping up and his trainer openly discussing the bigger targets, expect to see him pointed at one of those trials before long. He is the kind of horse who needs the right race at the right time, but when that alignment happens, he knows how to deliver.
