The recent form figures — 2-4-6-4-3-6 — are a mixed bag. There are a couple of encouraging runs tucked in there, particularly that second place and a third, which show Tiger can get close to the action. But the two sixth-place finishes either side of those efforts suggest inconsistency is the real obstacle right now. Horses that blow hot and cold like this often need one thing to click — a particular distance, a surface, a softer lead-in pace — before everything comes together.
What Tiger does have in its corner is the yard behind it. Ian Williams operates out of Portway in Worcestershire and has been in excellent form this season, sending out 96 winners — that's not a number you reach by accident. A trainer running at that volume and that success rate knows how to place a horse, and the fact that Tiger is still racing — it ran just yesterday — suggests Williams hasn't given up on finding the right opportunity to get this horse off the mark. Sometimes it simply takes time, and in a yard firing on all cylinders, Tiger is at least in the right hands while it waits for its moment.
