Trained by David O'Meara from Upper Helmsley in North Yorkshire, Theoryofeverything has shown enough promise that O'Meara and his jockey Danny Tudhope have noted a genuine change in the horse's character this season. After last August's win at Ayr, Tudhope observed that the horse looked sharper and more focused than before, suggesting real improvement. The trainer himself has been clear about what the horse needs: soft ground is not a preference but a requirement. O'Meara noted the horse's best performance came at Ascot on soft ground last year, and emphasized that moisture underfoot will be the defining factor in its future.
The catch is that Theoryofeverything struggles at the highest level. In Class 2 races, where the best horses compete, it has won just 1 of 15 attempts. Most of its recent form has been modest — a seventh place followed by a first, then three mid-field finishes in its last six outings — but the good news is that it remains actively racing, having run just a day ago. For a horse that clearly thrives on specific conditions and at specific tracks, finding those races again, particularly at Ayr when the ground is wet, will be where Theoryofeverything does its best work.
