Trained by Ruth Carr at her yard in Stillington, North Yorkshire — a stable that has sent out 56 winners already this season alone — The Good Biscuit got off the mark at Leicester in July 2023 and has been building a tidy record ever since. Carr noted back in April that the horse had finished the previous season in fine style, winning his last two races, and suggested he looked ready to pick up exactly where he left off. That read well, because this week he did precisely that: winning at Catterick Bridge on 15 July 2026, his second win at that track from just three visits. Winning twice from three visits to any course is the kind of record that makes a trainer book the same lorry without much deliberation — it suggests the track genuinely suits him, whether that is the tight turns, the undulations, or simply a happy coincidence that has become a pattern worth trusting.

What makes The Good Biscuit interesting as a racing character is that he does not seem to need any particular set of conditions to perform. On fast, dry ground he wins 3 from 7 races — that is 43 in every 100 attempts. On wet, heavy ground he wins 2 from 5 — 40 in every 100. Most horses have a strong preference either way; this one appears largely indifferent, which gives his trainer flexibility that most yards would envy.

His most regular rider, Warren Fentiman, has partnered him in 10 of those 32 races and won once together, a 10% win rate that is modest but reflects a partnership that keeps being renewed. Most of his racing has come at Class 4 level — solid, competitive midweek racing — where he has won 2 from 12, roughly 1 in 6 attempts.
