Behind the scenes, the horse is trained by Jamie Snowden, whose yard in Lambourn, Berkshire has been in outstanding form this season — 82 winners and counting. Lambourn is one of British racing's great training villages, home to some of the sport's most respected stables, and Snowden's team have clearly been busy making their mark on 2026. A yard firing out winners at that rate tends to know what it's doing, which makes The Elusive Pike's debut all the more credible — this wasn't a fluke from an outfit having a quiet year.
Of course, one race tells you only so much. The Elusive Pike has everything still to prove, and the real question is what comes next — tougher competition, different tracks, different conditions. But every great racing story starts somewhere, and this one started with a win. Worth keeping an eye on.
