Trained by Kevin Thomas Coleman out of Carrick-on-Suir in County Tipperary, Thatwilldoso only got off the mark for the first time at Gowran Park in April 2025, which made the subsequent win at Galway in August all the more encouraging — back-to-back wins in a single season suggested a horse that was finally working out what racing was about. Coleman's yard has sent out 10 winners this season, so this is a yard in decent nick, not one scrambling for results.
The partnership with jockey Rory Cleary is worth watching. In five races together they have won twice, a 40% win rate that stands well above Thatwilldoso's overall average. That kind of chemistry between horse and rider often matters more than people outside racing realise — familiarity, timing, trust. When Cleary is booked, it is reasonable to pay attention.
The recent form reads 9-2-6-2-1-1 going backwards from the most recent race, meaning the two victories came just before a dip in the last three outings. A ninth-place finish yesterday is the freshest data point, so Thatwilldoso arrives at this moment in the season on the back of a run that will not have turned heads. But a horse that has won as recently as August and races well in wet conditions — with Irish autumn and winter offering plenty of those — is one to keep on the right side of when the forecast looks grim.
