This tells you he is stretched when asked to step up in class but can hold his own among peers of similar ability. Tim Easterby's yard at Great Habton has had an excellent season with 128 winners, so the infrastructure and expertise are there.

What might turn things around is a return to Ripon with jockey David Allan in the saddle. Allan has ridden him successfully before, notching 2 wins from 11 races together — an 18 per cent win rate that is well above the horse's overall average. That partnership is worth watching, especially if the yard can find a Class 5 race back on his favourite track. He is active and still racing regularly, so there is time yet for another Ripon success to break the recent losing run.
