The good news is that she has picked up form recently. Her last outing was just a day ago, and six weeks earlier she won at Leopardstown on 20 August, so she is clearly still competitive and racing regularly. That Leopardstown victory was her most recent success, coming nearly two years after her first win at Gowran Park in June 2024—a long gap that suggests she has had to work harder for her wins than some of her peers. Her most recent six races tell a story of inconsistency: a third-place finish, then a sixteenth, a first, a third, a fifth, and then the run a day ago. That first-place finish is clearly her Leopardstown win, and the consistency of getting placed runs either side shows she is at least competitive at her current level.

Chris Hayes, his regular rider, has partnered him in twelve races but has notched only one win together—an 8% win rate that hints they may yet find more winning opportunities if the right race comes along. Tachos is trained by D K Weld at Curragh, a yard that has already sent out 21 winners this season, so he is in a stable with real winning form behind it. For a five-year-old still racing regularly with recent success, Tachos represents a horse that may be approaching her best, even if her record to date suggests she is unlikely to become a black-type performer.
