Stiorra

Stiorra is a 3-year-old without a win to its name after 12 races, though it did finish second once. The horse has been away from the track for nearly five months, so a return from that break will require careful handling. Recent form has been difficult — nothing better than a seventh-place finish in the last six outings, with two twelfth-place efforts. The gaps between wins simply aren't there yet, and that's something the trainer Andrew Slattery, based at Thurles in Tipperary, will need to address on the comeback. Slattery's yard is in decent form this season with 57 winners already under its belt, so there is at least competitive infrastructure around the horse. Whether Stiorra can convert that second-place promise from earlier in its career into a breakthrough win remains to be seen, but a five-month absence followed by poor recent form makes this a horse very much rebuilding rather than building momentum.
