When a horse wins and then backs it up with a run the very next day, it tells you the yard is confident in what they have.

Adam Kirby trains from Kirtling, just outside Newmarket, and his yard has sent out six winners this season — a decent return that suggests a stable in decent working order rather than one simply filling race cards. That matters, because a horse who wins for a yard firing on all cylinders is more likely to be genuinely ready than one who sneaks a result in a quieter spell.

One oddity worth flagging: South Kensington has run five times at the Class 5 level — the entry-level tier of British racing — and has not won any of them. Zero from five. Yet the career wins have come elsewhere, including that first career breakthrough at Chelmsford back in August 2025. It is a small puzzle.
