Smartanck is trained by Antony Brittain, who operates out of Warthill in North Yorkshire. The horse got off the mark at Wolverhampton back in September 2025, then went quiet for months before landing another win at Newcastle on 21 March 2026. That Newcastle victory is now four months in the rear-view mirror, and the subsequent runs haven't come close to matching it.

On other ground types, the record goes quiet entirely. That's a meaningful clue: when conditions are right, this horse can deliver. Most of its racing has come in Class 6, the entry-level tier of British racing, where it has won 1 from 3. Given that it raced yesterday and is clearly still in active training, there's every chance Brittain is looking for the right combination of track, ground, and class to draw out another performance like that Newcastle win.
