Sky Safari

Trained by James Fanshawe at Newmarket, Sky Safari has found its groove at the highest level. Two of three races in the top division have ended in victory — a 67% win rate at Class 1 — and the horse has been particularly ruthless at Kempton Park, where it has won all three races it has contested there. But the real insight into this horse's temperament comes from its ground preferences. On slow, muddy ground, Sky Safari wins three of every four races. On normal conditions, it does exactly the same thing — 3 wins from 4. That kind of consistency across different surfaces is the hallmark of a genuinely talented individual.

Recent form tells a more complicated story. Over the last six races, Sky Safari has won twice but also posted a blank — seventh place — suggesting the horse is no longer the unstoppable force it once was. That last victory came on 21 February 2026 at Lingfield, now seven months in the past. What makes this period interesting, though, is not the losses themselves but the company. This horse is still racing at the top, still competing in Class 1 and Class 2 events where only the best horses go. The drop from dominance to inconsistency at that level is steep and real, but Sky Safari remains dangerous on the right day, on the right ground, with Muscutt in the saddle.
