He has won 2 of his 6 races at that grade, which means he is converting at around 1 in 3 when pitched against the right opposition. That is not a small thing. Plenty of horses spend entire careers unable to find a race they can win; Sir Carnegie has now found his.

The partnership with jockey Shane Fenelon looks significant. Together they have won 2 of their 6 races, a win rate of 1 in 3, which is well above the horse's overall average. When Fenelon is in the saddle, something clicks. Behind the scenes, trainer Mickey Bowen operates out of Haverfordwest in Pembrokeshire — not one of the sport's glamour addresses, but a yard that has sent out 46 winners this season alone, which is a serious number. Bowen clearly knows how to place his horses in races they can win, and Sir Carnegie looks like a prime example of that patience paying off.

He raced just yesterday, so he is very much in the middle of a campaign right now. The question is whether that late-career purple patch has more to give, or whether the recent form represents a brief peak. Given that he has won 2 of his last 6 races and the Fenelon-Bowen combination is clearly working, there is every reason to keep watching.
