The horse has not won since Epsom Downs in August 2025, more than a year ago. His trainer Eve Johnson Houghton, based at Blewbury in Oxfordshire, has noted that the handicapper moved him up significantly after that victory—9 pounds for a single win is a steep climb—and the extra weight appears to have cost him. His record in the top-tier races that make up Class 4 competition tells the real story: he has won none of his 13 attempts at that level. He performs much better when conditions and company suit him, winning 2 of his 8 races on normal ground, a 25 per cent win rate that stands out sharply against his overall record.

Charles Bishop, his regular jockey, has ridden him in 17 races but managed just one winner together, a 6 per cent win rate that mirrors the partnership's general struggle. Yet Silver Trumpet remains in work and raced just a day ago, still seeking a return to the form that carried him to victory. For a horse of his age and experience, the gap between ambition and reality has widened, but at Blewbury there will be hope that a change of scenery, better ground, or a step back down to more suitable company might unlock another winning performance.
