Two victories in the space of six races is a decent purple patch for a horse with his overall record, and his last win came at Dundalk in February 2025. He's now four years old and, having taken that first career win at Cork in May 2024, has clearly developed as the season has progressed.

The concern — and it's worth being upfront about it — is the absence. Signor Ferrari hasn't raced in roughly 10 months, and a lot can change in that time. Trainer P J F Murphy's yard has sent out 4 winners this season, so the operation is ticking over, but returning from a long break always introduces an unknown. Some horses come back sharper; others need a race or two to find their stride again.

When jockey Hugh Horgan is in the saddle, the numbers are notably better: 2 wins from 6 races together works out at roughly 1 in every 3, which is a strong partnership by any measure. If Horgan is booked again here, that's a meaningful detail.

The profile that emerges is of a horse who is genuinely good in a specific set of circumstances — right distance, right ground, probably with his regular rider — but who needs those boxes ticked. On his ideal day, he wins nearly half his races. The question returning from 10 months off is simply whether today is that day.
