The career arc has been gradual but real. Serengeti broke through for a first win at Dundalk in October 2024, and since then has added to that tally including a win at Windsor just four weeks ago — the most recent victory on 25 May 2026. Windsor is a notably different kind of track to Dundalk, and winning at both shows an adaptability that many horses at this level simply don't have. Racing again just yesterday, Serengeti is clearly in a busy spell, which tells you the team at Westoning believe the horse is in decent form right now.

The recent run of results is worth looking at closely: reading back from the most recent race, the sequence goes 15th, 1st, 28th, 21st, 5th, 4th. That's a volatile pattern — a big win sandwiched between some genuinely poor efforts. The 28th and 21st-place finishes in particular suggest there are days when things simply don't click. Whether that's down to specific track conditions, the way a race unfolds, or something else entirely is hard to say, but it's a horse that can look brilliant one week and anonymous the next.

One area where Serengeti has yet to find the answer is at the higher level. In four races at Class 2 — some of the better races in Britain — the horse has yet to win, going 0 from 4 at that grade. That's not a disgrace; Class 2 races attract sharper competition, and simply being entered in them says the yard believes Serengeti belongs in that company. But it's a ceiling the horse will need to break through to prove it's more than a solid performer at the level below.

Trainer Mike Murphy has had 15 winners from his Westoning yard this season, which is a useful benchmark — this is an operation that knows how to get horses to the track in winning form. With Serengeti clearly active and freshly off a win, the next few weeks will be telling.
