The key to getting the best from Secret Secret is understanding what he needs. On faster, drier ground he struggles, but give him slightly soft or wet conditions and he becomes a different proposition — he has won 2 of 5 races (40%) on wet ground and 2 of 8 (25%) when the surface is slightly soft. In Class 5 company, his natural level, he wins roughly one in every four races (5 wins from 19), a respectable win rate that shows he is competitive when things fall right. Ridden by Charlotte Jones, he has won 4 of 17 races together (24%), suggesting a strong partnership.

However, it has been fourteen months since his last victory, and his recent form has been frustrating — he ran third just over a week ago but has finished fifth, fifth, fourth, fifth, and ninth in his five starts before that. At ten, and without a win since summer 2025, the window for more success is narrowing. Moffatt clearly retains faith and has planned a spring and summer campaign, possibly starting at Perth, but Secret Secret will need to recapture the form that made him such a shrewd investment. On the right ground and at the right track, there may yet be another race or two left in the tank.
