The third place is encouraging in isolation, but it sits in a sequence that trends in the wrong direction.

Most of those blank runs have come in Class 4 races — a mid-level tier where you would hope a horse with this profile might pick up a win. Zero wins from six attempts at that level is the kind of stat that makes you wonder whether the horse needs a different approach, a change of surface, or simply a bit of luck to turn things around.

The most important relationship in the horse's career so far has been with jockey Tyler Heard, who has ridden Searchingtheblues in 8 of its 11 races. Both career wins have come with Heard in the saddle — that is a win rate of 25%, or 1 in every 4 races together, which is actually a strong number in this sport. The partnership clearly has something to it, even if recent runs have not reflected that.
