Saxophonic

Looking at the last six runs tells a story of ups and downs. After that encouraging second place just after the win, Saxophonic has been harder to pin down—two fourths, a sixth, and an eighth. That eighth place came most recently, just yesterday, so the horse is active and being kept in racing. Trainer David Simcock, who has sent out 39 winners already this season from his Newmarket base, clearly believes there is merit here worth pursuing. Winning once in ten races isn't the kind of record that gets people talking, but it's early days for a 3-year-old. The real test now is whether Saxophonic can find that winning form again and start stringing together better performances. The breakthrough has happened. What the horse needs now is to prove it wasn't a one-off.
