Rossa Raheen

The recent form tells a mixed story. Over the last six races, the horse has picked up a second-place finish and a fourth-place finish among a run of mid-field and out-of-the-placings efforts, including a well-beaten 15th place just days ago. That 15th seems like a particularly tough day, but it came in the most recent outing only one day ago, so the horse is being given another chance quickly. Trainer Ollie Sangster, who runs a strong yard from Marlborough in Wiltshire and has sent out 46 winners already this season, clearly believes there is something worth nurturing here. The fact that Rossa Raheen won at Salisbury three weeks ago — just its second race in three weeks — suggests the horse is getting plenty of racing. Some trainers keep banging away at their stock until form clicks; Sangster appears to be doing exactly that. Whether Rossa Raheen will develop into a reliable race-winner or remain a horse that flashes glimpses of ability is still an open question, but at three years old there is time yet.
