Rosemary May

That one win came at Ayr on 28 April 2025, and it remains the sole peak of her career so far. She tends to compete at Class 5, which is the bread-and-butter level of British racing — not the glamour events, but competitive enough that winning still means something. At that level she has won 1 from 4, which works out at 25%, or roughly 1 in every 4, and that is actually a decent return when you look at it that way. The problem is the other days, when she has drifted well out of contention and seemingly had little to offer.

She is trained by Tim Easterby at Great Habton in North Yorkshire, and that is not a bad place to be. Easterby's yard has sent out 138 winners this season alone, which marks it as one of the more productive operations in the north of England. A horse can go through patches of poor form anywhere, but at least Rosemary May has patient, experienced hands around her. She raced just one day ago, so she is very much active and mid-campaign — whatever comes next is coming soon.
