The first came at Ffos Las in June 2023, getting off the mark in the way most horses do — at a smaller track, on a good day. The second is the one that matters. On 2 May 2025, Rosario won a Class 2 race at Goodwood, one of the most prestigious venues in British racing and a genuine top-tier contest. Winning there is not something ordinary horses do. It suggests that when conditions and circumstances align, Rosario is capable of competing at a genuinely high level — and delivering.

The key to unlocking that performance appears to be the ground. On normal conditions, Rosario has won 2 of just 8 races — a win rate of 25%, or 1 in every 4. That is a dramatically better record than its overall figures suggest, and it points to a horse that is genuinely fussy about the surface underfoot. Put it on the right track on the right day, and it becomes a different proposition entirely.

Cieren Fallon has been the regular partner, riding Rosario in 6 of its 24 races and winning once together — roughly 1 in every 6 rides, which broadly reflects the horse's overall profile. Rosario is trained by Roger Teal at Lambourn, one of Britain's best-known racing towns, and the yard has been in fine form this season with 22 winners sent out.

Since that Goodwood win 14 months ago, Rosario has gone quiet — no wins in its last 6 races, with recent finishes of 10th, 3rd, 6th, 8th, 5th and 4th. The third place is encouraging and shows it is still competing honestly, but it has not been able to repeat that Class 2 high point. Still active and raced just yesterday, Rosario remains a horse to keep an eye on whenever the ground comes up right — because we have already seen what it can do when everything clicks.
