That Goodwood win is the headline, but it is worth understanding the context. Rosario spends most of its time in Class 2 company — the upper tier of British racing — and has won just 1 from 13 races at that level. That is a tough environment, roughly the equivalent of a club footballer who mostly plays against Premier League opposition. The fact that it has placed nine times in 22 races tells you it belongs there; it just does not always find enough to win.

Normal ground conditions are where Rosario is at its best. On a standard surface, it has won 2 of its 8 races — that is a 25% win rate, which is genuinely strong. When the track is right, this horse is a different proposition. That figure alone is reason to pay attention when conditions suit.

Jockey Cieren Fallon has been the regular partner, riding Rosario in six of its races and winning once together — roughly 1 in every 6 rides. That is a respectable partnership, and there is clearly a working relationship between horse and rider. Trainer Roger Teal operates out of Lambourn, one of Britain's best-known training centres, and has sent out 22 winners already this season — a yard clearly in decent form.

Recent runs show a horse that is placing and running into the frame without quite converting. Finishing third, second, tenth, third, sixth, and eighth in the last six outings suggests Rosario is competitive but searching for that winning moment. Raced just yesterday, it is clearly a horse still very much in training and in form. Whether the next run on suitable ground brings a third career win remains to be seen, but this is not a horse whose best days are behind it.
