The horse got its first win at Chelmsford back in October 2025, and this week added a second at Windsor on 1 June 2026, which means both wins have come in its last 6 races. That recent form — 1-6-1-3-4-3 reading from newest to oldest — tells you something interesting: strip out the one poor run and there's a horse that keeps finding its way into the thick of things. Two wins and two thirds from six races is a genuinely productive spell.
Where it gets more complicated is at Class 2 level, which means some of the better races in Britain. River Spey has run three times at that level and not yet won any of them. That's not unusual for a three-year-old still finding its feet, but it does suggest the horse is working its way up the ladder rather than already sitting at the top of it. The wins have come at a level below that, which is where it has shown its best.
Ed Walker trains out of Upper Lambourn in Berkshire, and the yard has been in strong form this season — 80 winners sent out is a serious number that puts them among the busier and more successful operations around. A trainer in that kind of form tends to know exactly where to place a horse to give it the best chance, and River Spey's two wins suggest Walker has found the right spots at the right times. With the Windsor victory coming just this week, this is a horse very much in the middle of its season rather than winding down — and on current form, more winners look quite possible.
