The real meat is in the distance sweet spot. When Racing at distances between one mile and one furlong and one mile and two furlongs, Rating wins roughly one in every five races—three wins from 16. That is a meaningful pattern. Her most recent win came four weeks ago at Chepstow, a track where she clearly runs well. Outside that narrow window, though, she rarely threatens. When stepped up to Class 5—the middle tier of handicap racing where the competition sharpens—she has won zero from ten races, a sobering reminder that she is still very much a bread-and-butter horse, not a rising talent. Her last six races show the inconsistency typical of a horse operating near the limit of her ability: two thirds, a couple of fifth-place finishes, an eighth, and a placing.

Sean Levey, his regular jockey, has ridden him six times without a win, which suggests the partnership may not be clicking, or simply that Levey tends to partner him in tougher races. Grace Harris, his trainer at Shirenewton in Gwent, has had a strong season with 31 winners and clearly knows how to get the best from her string. But Rating's profile is now clear: she is a specialist, best suited to moderate Company over her preferred trip, and a horse worth following when she returns to Chepstow or similar tracks at that one-mile-plus distance. She is active and racing regularly, which is exactly where a horse of this level should be.
