Rajapour

That one win came at Wolverhampton in December 2025, and it remains the only time Rajapour has made it to the front. The interesting detail is where he spends most of his time: Class 4 races, which sit in the middle of the racing pyramid — not the top tier, but not the bottom either. In 12 races at that level, he has not won once. That's a striking record of futility at the grade he most often competes at, and it raises the obvious question of whether his single win came at a lower level where things just fell right on the day.

His recent form, however, tells a more encouraging story. Reading his last six finishes — 7th, 8th, 2nd, 4th, 3rd, 3rd — shows a horse that has been running into form. Reversed, that sequence is a clear upward curve: after two poor efforts, he has finished third twice, fourth once, and second once. He is knocking on the door without quite getting through it, and he raced just yesterday, so that momentum is very much live.

His regular rider Mark Winn has been on board five times without a win between them, which is worth noting without reading too much into — plenty of horses need the right race rather than a different jockey. Behind the scenes, Rajapour is trained by David O'Meara at Upper Helmsley in North Yorkshire, one of the sharper operations in the north of England. O'Meara's yard has already sent out 107 winners this season, which is a serious number and reflects a team that knows how to place horses. The question is whether they can find the right opportunity to get Rajapour back to the winner's enclosure for only the second time in his career.
