The partnership with jockey Cam Hardie hasn't cracked the code either — five races together, five times they've come home without a trophy. That said, Princess Coco is only three years old, which in horse terms means she is still very much a work in progress. Some horses take time to figure things out, and racing at Class 5 — the entry-level tier of British racing — means she is at least competing where the opportunities are most accessible.
Her trainer, Simon Whitaker, operates out of Scarcroft in West Yorkshire and has sent out four winners this season, so the yard clearly knows how to get a horse ready to win. Princess Coco raced just yesterday, which shows she is fit and active. The question is simply whether the right race — the right day, the right conditions, the right draw — comes along to change everything. It hasn't happened yet, but at three years old, the book isn't closed.
