It essentially means that when the sun has been out and the ground is firm underfoot, Prince Of India becomes a very different proposition. His first win came on a midweek card at Wolverhampton in March 2025, but those Ascot and Newmarket victories confirmed that the ability was always there — he just needed the right conditions to unlock it.

His most productive partnership has been with jockey Marco Ghiani, who has ridden him to 2 wins from their 5 races together — winning 2 in every 5, which is a strong record for any combination. The horse is trained by Marco Botti at Newmarket, a yard that has sent out 45 winners already this season — a busy, successful operation that clearly knows how to place horses well, and the step up to those Class 2 races at Ascot and Newmarket suggests they believed in Prince Of India's ceiling early.

That said, his recent form gives pause. His last six results read fourth, second, tenth, fifth, eighth, third — no wins, and that tenth-place finish in particular stands out as a rough day at the office. His last victory was at Ascot in August 2025, now ten months ago, and the runs since have been patchy. Whether the team is waiting for the right conditions — ideally, another dry summer's day — or whether he is finding this level harder to repeat remains the question. He races actively, having run just yesterday, so clearly the yard believe there is more to come. Another spell of fine weather could make him very interesting indeed.
