Pour Les Filles

The most striking thing about this horse is what happens when the ground gets wet. On soft or muddy ground, Pour Les Filles has won 2 of just 3 races — that's a 67% win rate, or two wins from every three attempts in those conditions. For context, most horses never approach numbers like that. When the skies open, this horse becomes a completely different proposition.

The current chapter of the story began about six months ago when Mickey Bowen's yard in Haverfordwest took over the horse's training. Bowen has had a strong season — 52 winners sent out — and Pour Les Filles quickly justified the move. Bowen was open about being impressed from day one, and in January 2026 at Ffos Las, the horse delivered, winning in the kind of assured display that suggested a chaser who had finally found his calling. It was the yard's first win together and it felt like the beginning of something.

Before that, Pour Les Filles had been with Gordon Elliott in Ireland, where the story was more complicated. A first career win came at Leopardstown on St Stephen's Day 2022, but the horse missed most of a season in between, and a tilt at three miles at Cheltenham didn't come off — the longer trip found him out. Elliott pointed toward dropping back in distance, and the move to Bowen seems to have provided the fresh start the horse needed.

Recent form shows two consecutive third-place finishes in the last two outings, which is encouraging after a blank run in the race before that. Jack Kennedy has ridden the horse five times, winning once together, but the partnership hasn't fired consistently. With wet ground and a sensible trip, though, Pour Les Filles remains a horse worth watching — one who races most often at Class 3 level and has shown he can win there, having done it in the kind of conditions he was seemingly born for.
