She races at Class 6 level, which is the entry-level tier of British racing, and even there she has won just 1 of her 10 races at that grade. That said, 11 places suggests she is rarely out of the picture — she just keeps finding one or two horses too good on the day. Her best distance appears to be somewhere between a mile and a mile and two furlongs, where she has won 1 of 7 races (14%) — by far her strongest record across any trip, and a useful pointer for anyone following her next run.

Her recent form reads 2-3-7-9-6-3 in her last six outings — a second and a third at either end of that sequence, but a difficult patch in the middle where she dropped well out of contention. She raced just yesterday, so she is clearly being kept busy. Jockey David Allan has partnered her six times without a win between them, though it would be unfair to read too much into that given her overall record.

She is trained by Tim Easterby at Great Habton in North Yorkshire, and the yard is in seriously good form this season — 138 winners and counting. Easterby is one of the most prolific trainers in the north of England, and a yard firing at that rate tends to have its horses well placed and fit. The fact that Perfidia has not won since Ripon ten months ago may simply reflect how tight her margins are at this level rather than anything more worrying — she has been placed in two of her last six, which keeps her in the conversation. A return to Ripon, or a step back to that mile-plus trip, could be the combination that brings up win number two.
