At four years old, Perfidia has run 29 times and won 3, a win rate of roughly 1 in every 10 races. Fifteen further place finishes mean she has at least been involved in the action regularly, but her overall numbers paint the picture of a horse that has spent most of her career being competitive without quite converting. That changed in the summer of 2025, when she broke her duck at Ripon in June — her first win from what had been a long wait — and she has since added a second win this week at Nottingham, her most recent race coming just yesterday.
The distance range of a mile and a furlong to a mile and a quarter seems to unlock something in her. She has won all three of her career races within that band, striking at a rate of 3 from 12 — one win in every four attempts, which is meaningfully better than her overall record suggests. Normal, standard ground also suits her: 2 wins from 11 races at 18%, or roughly one in every five, which is twice as good as her overall conversion rate. When the conditions are right, she is a different proposition.
What makes her current form worth paying attention to is the recent sequence: two wins, a third, and a fifth in her last six runs. That is not a horse drifting along — that is a horse in form. Tim Easterby's yard at Great Habton has been firing on all cylinders this season, sending out 128 winners, so Perfidia is operating within a setup that clearly knows how to get a horse to the track in winning shape.
The one slight puzzle in her profile is her regular partnership with David Allan, who has ridden her seven times without a win together. Both of her recent victories have come, then, with different arrangements in the saddle. Whether that is coincidence or something more meaningful, it is the kind of detail that a sharp observer would want to watch. Right now, though, Perfidia is a horse in form, at her right trip, on her right ground, and still racing.
