The real story here is what the ground means to Perfect Judgement. On normal, standard conditions, the horse comes alive: it has won four of its last 18 races on that surface, which is a 22 percent win rate — nearly double its overall average. That's the kind of detail that matters when a trainer and jockey are plotting which race to target next. Ronan Whelan has been the regular pilot, though the partnership has yielded just one win from seven races together, suggesting there may be better matches elsewhere in the saddle.

Perfect Judgement's last win came at Dundalk on February 7, 2025, but since then it has not been back to the winner's enclosure in six consecutive races, finishing fifth, 15th, fifth, seventh, and seventh in its most recent outings. That's a tough stretch, and it suggests the horse is in a period where form has dipped. Trainer P J F Murphy, based at Castlecomer in County Kilkenny, has only sent out four winners this season overall, so Perfect Judgement is clearly competing in an ordinary yard rather than one loaded with stars.
