His most recent form shows genuine class. He won at Newcastle four months ago, then came back last week to claim a Class 2 race on the all-weather track at Southwell — one of the top grades of racing in Britain. Before that win he finished second and eighth, which tells you he can be inconsistent, but his last two outings have been a marked improvement. He first tasted victory back in May at Redcar and has been building on it steadily since. Edward Bethell, who trains him from his Middleham yard in North Yorkshire, has sent out 61 winners this season, so Paborus is part of a thriving operation.

The horse has proven he belongs in Class 2 company and clearly thrives when Callum Rodriguez is in the saddle. He is active and racing regularly, and with that partnership firing again, he looks capable of winning more races at this level. There is every reason to expect him to remain competitive over the coming months.
