The horse only landed its first career win at Huntingdon in April 2025, and has since made that track something of a personal stomping ground. The most recent victory came at Huntingdon just this week, on 4 April 2026, continuing a sequence that reads 1-1-–-4-1-2 over its last six outings. That is extraordinary consistency at the sharp end of the field — only one result outside the top two in the last five completed runs.

What makes the story slightly puzzling is the class question. Overabottleofred has raced five times at Class 4 level — the middle tier of the sport — and has not won any of them, a record of 0 from 5. Yet it has found the winner's enclosure three times elsewhere. That suggests this horse may actually be performing better when asked a different kind of question, which is not something you can say about every animal. Tom Gretton, who trains the horse from his yard in Inkberrow, Worcestershire, has clearly identified where his charge is happiest and most effective.

Gretton himself is having a productive season — 12 winners sent out already — and Overabottleofred looks like one of the yard's livelier current prospects. Having raced just yesterday, the horse is very much in the thick of things right now. Whether it can crack the Class 4 puzzle or whether Gretton simply keeps pointing it at the tracks and conditions where it clearly thrives remains to be seen. Either way, a horse winning 3 from 6 at any stage of its career deserves attention, and this one is very much worth keeping an eye on.
