Ormolulu

Her overall record reads 6 wins and 14 places from 42 races, a win rate of roughly 1 in every 7. That is a modest return on paper, but strip away the races run elsewhere and the picture at Southwell looks quite different. Her most recent win came there in February 2025, and her last six runs — finishing fifth, third, fifth, tenth, seventh, and fifth — suggest she has been knocking on the door without quite breaking through. Importantly, she only raced yesterday, so this is a horse very much in the thick of a season.

Jockey Saffie Osborne has been her most regular partner, riding her 13 times and winning twice together — a win rate of around 1 in every 6. That is a solid partnership, and the fact they keep coming back to each other suggests a degree of mutual understanding between horse and rider.

What makes the next few months genuinely interesting is what Gemma Tutty has said about her plans. The trainer has pointed to York as a target — a significant step up from the Class 4 company Ormolulu usually contests. Tutty has spoken warmly about how unlucky the horse was at York last summer, where she finished strongly on more than one occasion but simply could not find a gap to run through. A comeback run at Leicester is already in the bank, and Tutty believes there is more to come. Tutty's yard has sent out 20 winners this season, so this is not a team short of confidence.

The question, really, is whether Ormolulu can reproduce what she does at Southwell somewhere else. The evidence so far says probably not — but then, horses occasionally surprise you.
