Her career got going at Wetherby in October 2022, and she has since built a record that suits her level well. She races most often in Class 4 company — solid, competitive racing, if not quite the top tier — and has won 4 of her 13 races at that level, a win rate of 31%, or roughly 1 in every 3. That is a genuinely impressive ratio. Trainer Jamie Snowden, who operates out of Lambourn and has been in fine form this season with 82 winners, has spoken frankly about a difficult patch in the mud that cost her two years of progress. A poorly designed penalty structure in a development programme left her in no-man's land, and she went off the boil. It takes honesty to admit that, and it takes a good horse to come back from it.

Come back she has. Obsessedwithyou won at Wincanton just this week — her most recent race was a single day ago — which makes her about as current as a horse can be. Her regular partner Jockey Gavin Sheehan has ridden her in 20 of her races and won on 5 of them (25%), and that continuity of partnership clearly matters. The pair have built an understanding that shows up in the results.

Snowden has also hinted that jumping fences is on the agenda, which would represent a step up in both distance and challenge. For now, though, the focus is on a horse who has found her rhythm at exactly the right time. Three wins from her last six races, a victory just days ago, and a trainer who clearly believes there is more to come — Obsessedwithyou is one to watch.
