The numbers behind that run are almost suspiciously clean. On dry ground, My Cloud has won all three times it has raced — a perfect record. At a distance of around a mile to a mile and two furlongs, it has won all four times it has been asked to run that trip. Racing is rarely this tidy. When a horse finds a surface and a distance that suits it this completely, it is usually because everything — its stride, its stamina, its temperament — is perfectly calibrated for those conditions. My Cloud has found its sweet spot, and the record shows it.
The two wins that stand out most came at Newbury in May 2025 and Ascot in June 2025. Both are one of the top races in Britain — Class 2 level — which means My Cloud was not beating moderate horses in quiet midweek affairs. It was competing against well-regarded animals at prestigious tracks and winning. Ascot in particular is one of the most famous venues in world racing, and leaving there with a winner's trophy in June says something meaningful about a horse's quality.
My Cloud is trained by Roger Varian at Newmarket, one of the most respected yards in British racing. With 86 winners sent out already this season, Varian's operation is not short of ammunition — but My Cloud clearly occupies a special place in the string given the races it has been asked to run.
The one question mark is time. My Cloud has not raced for nine months, returning now from what has been a significant break since that Ascot win. Whether it comes back as sharp as it left is the unknown. But a horse that has won 4 of its 6 career races, goes on dry ground like a train, and has already beaten quality rivals at the top tracks will have plenty of people wanting to find out.
