My Ambition

The ground matters a great deal to this one. On normal conditions, My Ambition wins about 1 in 4 races — 2 from 8. Switch to fast, dry ground and that figure actually improves slightly: 2 wins from 7 races, close to 1 in 3. Put simply, when the sun has been out and the ground is riding quick, this horse is genuinely dangerous. On softer or muddier ground, the record does not hold up as well, and that is worth knowing.

The bulk of My Ambition's career has been spent at Class 6 level — the entry-level tier of British flat racing, where horses compete for modest prize money and the competition is as open as it gets. Even there, the horse has won 4 of 18 races at that level, a rate of 22%. That is actually a decent return for a horse that races this often. The career began with a first win at Newbury in June 2022, and the most recent victory came at Lingfield Park in September 2025 — now ten months ago.

The current partnership with jockey George Bass is, frankly, one area where the numbers give pause. In 8 races together, they have not yet found the winner's enclosure. That is not necessarily anyone's fault — racing is complicated — but it is a streak worth noting. Meanwhile, Coakley's yard has sent out 10 winners this season, so the operation is in decent form overall.

Recent runs show finishes of 3rd, 11th, 2nd, 3rd, 9th, and 4th (reading oldest to most recent), and the horse raced just yesterday — as active as it gets. That second place is a reminder that a win is not out of reach. My Ambition has not broken through in the last 6 races, but with the right ground underfoot, the right day could still come.
