At Newbury specifically, Mustazeed has won 4 times from just 10 visits — that means he has won 2 in every 5 races at the track, a completely different horse to the one who turns up elsewhere. Most horses have a course or two they like the feel of; not many own one quite so decisively as this.

The most recent of those Newbury wins came on 20 September 2025, a Class 2 race — one of the better races in Britain — and almost exactly a year after he had won the same grade at the same venue in September 2024. Winning a top-level race is an achievement. Winning the same kind of race at the same track in back-to-back years suggests something more deliberate. His regular jockey Kaiya Fraser has yet to get off the mark together in five attempts, though Mustazeed has been in modest form away from Newbury recently, finishing eighth and tenth in his last two completed races before a break. He raced just yesterday, so there is clearly plenty left in the tank at eight. The career earnings of a horse who competes regularly at Class 2 reflect a consistent performer at a decent level — not a superstar, but a horse who knows exactly when and where to turn it on.
