His most recent win came at Wincanton on 24 March 2025, and his first career victory arrived at Huntingdon in October 2023. Both suggest he's a horse that needs the right conditions to thrive. In Class 4 races—the sort of middling contests where he typically runs—he's won 2 of 9 (22%), which is respectable enough. The worrying thing is his recent form before that long absence: he finished outside the top 3 in his most recent run, then top-3 finishes, then fourth and third. Not a horse in the form of his life.

Sam Twiston-Davies, son of the trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies, has ridden him 11 times and won once (9%), so there's no obvious partnership magic there. The yard itself is modest in ambition this season, having sent out four winners so far. If Mr Mackay returns to racing after this lengthy break, he'll need to recapture whatever worked on that normal ground at Wincanton last spring. Until then, he remains a horse with occasional spark but no reliable form to hang a hat on.
