His first win came at Dundalk in December 2024, and he followed that up with a second at Naas in August 2025 — two very different tracks, which at least suggests he's not completely track-dependent. That Naas win is now 10 months in the past, though, and since then it's been a lean run. His last six races read 8-7-8-4-8 and a blank, which in plain terms means he's been finishing well down the field more often than not. There's no obvious sign that a third win is just around the corner.
The man most often in the saddle is Luke McAteer, who has partnered Mint Man seven times without getting him to win — 0 from 7 together. That's not necessarily a damning statistic on its own, but it does underline that the combination hasn't yet clicked in the way the yard would hope. P J F Murphy trains him from Castlecomer in County Kilkenny, a yard that has sent out four winners this season, so it's a functioning, active operation — Mint Man just hasn't been one of their success stories lately.
He raced just one day ago, which means he's firmly in the thick of his campaign right now. Whether there's another win in him is hard to say — but 31 races in, Mint Man is clearly a horse his team believes in enough to keep running, and that kind of persistence occasionally gets rewarded.
