Marbuzet

The horse has thrived at Class 6 level, where he has won five of his eighteen races — a winning rate of 28 per cent that shows he is genuinely suited to that grade. Tim Easterby, who trains him at Great Habton in North Yorkshire, describes him as a grand little staying horse, and the numbers back that up. Marbuzet tends to shine on quicker, drier ground, winning three times from twelve races when conditions are firm and fast. He can handle slightly softer footing too — winning two from seven races on those occasions — but the quick ground is where he is at his most effective.

David Allan has ridden Marbuzet in twenty races, winning three of them together, a partnership that offers steady consistency if not fireworks. His last victory came at Beverley on 30 August 2026, seven weeks ago, suggesting he remains competitive. Recent form has been patchy — his last six runs show two finishes outside the top-3 finishes and nothing better than sixth — but he was back in action just a day ago, so the yard clearly still sees enough in him to keep him racing. Easterby has been toying with the idea of running him in staying races suited to his temperament, which implies there is still a plan in place for this reliable, unpretentious horse.
